Forge 2 - Striking Anvil Design

Striking anvils are a great tool to use for initial steel forming without the risk of damaging an expensive high carbon steel anvil. A good striking anvil needs to be relatively immovable and hold up against continuous full force strikes. This project consisted of materials selection, design, and assembly of the anvil. Tejbir B. was the lead designer for this project and decided on medium carbon AISI 1045 cold drawn steel for the bulk of the anvil. Stress tests were also conducted on this model and the factor of safety for the anvil is well above our required threshold (>10).
